Crowds are pouring into the city for the grand celebration marking Aktau as the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World. The atmosphere is special. This remarkable day, which unites Turkic nations, is taking the cultural and diplomatic ties of brotherly countries to new heights.
Yerlan Karakulov, who came specially from the Karakiya district, emphasized that such a large-scale event will further strengthen unity among Turkic peoples.
“Today, we are proudly proclaiming to the world that Aktau is the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World. People have gathered here from every corner of our country and neighboring states. It’s a wonderful and meaningful scene. Brothers and sisters from Turkey, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan have come to celebrate with us. This event will significantly contribute to our future cooperation and unity. May our nation always remain safe and our people in peace. In the evening, Dimash is expected to perform, and the well-known ‘Yalla’ band from a neighboring country is also anticipated. Let’s all enjoy the celebration in good spirits. May this festive spirit continue,” said Yerlan Karakulov.
Gulzipash Aimagambetova, who arrived from Zhanaozen, shared her delight about Aktau being chosen as the cultural capital of the Turkic world.
“Seven cousins from our extended family came together for this special day. Thank God, the mood is vibrant. Villages from across our region have set up their traditional yurts. Long-forgotten customs and traditions of our ancestors are being revived and proudly showcased. It feels as though we’ve stepped back into the ancient cultural heritage of the Turkic world. Just recently, our region entered the Guinness World Records with five thousand people wearing national costumes. We also wore our traditional attire on that day,” said Gulzipash Aimagambetova.
Mayra Merekeqyzy, a resident of Munaily district, shared her impressions, highlighting that this is the first time such a large-scale event is being held in the city.
“In our marble-like city of Aktau, events like this are happening more often now. It’s been a truly unforgettable experience. Just recently, on March 22 – the great day of Nauryz, our region showcased its traditions and national clothing to the world, breaking a record. Today, the weather is perfect, with the sun shining brightly. We’ll also be attending the grand gala concert this evening,” said Mayra Merekeqyzy.
