An 87-year-old artisan from Mangystau, Sharkhat Tolemisova, attended the opening ceremony of the festive event “Aktau – Cultural Capital of the Turkic World”, where she presented a tassel she had made especially for Dimash Kudaibergen. She traveled specifically for the occasion and participated in the event for two days.
Previously, it was reported that the elderly woman, who is nearing 90, had crafted a tassel for Dimash and wished to present it to him personally.
“We are Kazakhs. We grew up as Kazakh girls, now we are mothers, wise women of the village. Dimash is like our own child. When I heard he was coming to Aktau, I thought, ‘Why not tie a tassel for him?’ So I decided to meet him and attach it to his dombra with my own hands,” said the elderly woman.
Today, Dimash Kudaibergen had a special meeting with the kind-hearted grandmother and received the tassel made especially for him.
“I read on social media that our grandmother made a special tassel for me. I couldn’t stop thinking about not being able to meet her after the concert yesterday. So today, I asked my brothers to arrange a meeting,” said Dimash. He also gifted the grandmother’s 10-year-old great-grandchild a necklace and a ring.
“As a mother who always prays for the well-being of our people and heroes, it was my dream to make a special tassel for this young man who introduces Kazakh culture to the world,” said the skilled artisan. She explained the meaning hidden in the tassel and gave Dimash her heartfelt blessing.
