Aktau Artists Presented a Gift of Traditional Songs and Epics

At a large-scale festive event in the city of Aktau, local performers delighted the audience by performing the region’s traditional songs and epics, rich in unique melodies and styles.

Mangystau’s traditional “zhyrshylar” embodied the characters of the “Adaidyn bes zhuirigi” and performed their works.

According to traditional singer Azimkhan Adai, the grand concert was organized at a very high level.

“We, the Mangystau zhyrshy performers, represent the ‘Adaidyn bes zhuirigi’ and perform their epics. I am portraying the image of Qashaghan Kurzhimanuly. Holding events like this in the future will greatly contribute to our spiritual and cultural revival. Congratulations on the holiday! Our Turkic brothers and sisters have come from all over — we wish them a warm welcome,” said Azimkhan Adai.

The concert opened with local theater actors dressed as legendary warriors.

“As part of the ‘Aktau — Cultural Capital of the Turkic World’ celebration, we are about to appear on stage as 20 heroes. We are proud to take part in such a cultural event in our city. Everything is going wonderfully. We hope this noble gathering of Turkic peoples will continue,” said Erkenbulan Ibragimuly, an actor at the Nurmukhan Zhanturin Regional Music and Drama Theater.

Traditional singer Nuryim Askanov noted that such spiritual events are important for strengthening the friendship and brotherhood among Turkic-speaking peoples.

“We’ve come to participate in today’s festive event. This celebration is the continuation of the cultural baton that was passed to us last year from Anau, Turkmenistan. Today, I will perform Qashaghan Kurzhimanuly’s song ‘Toibastar.’ May the pride of Turkic-speaking peoples grow stronger, and may our unity remain firm,” said Nuryim Askanov.
